Aquaponics Module

The IRTAmar® Aquaponics Module integrates fish farming with hydroponic plant cultivation in a balanced and symbiotic system. Water from the aquaculture tanks supplies the hydroponic system, where fish waste is transformed by nitrifying bacteria into nutrients that plants can absorb. Once the nutrients have been retained, the treated water returns to the fish tanks, creating an efficient recirculation cycle. This innovative solution supports more sustainable research into the combined production of aquatic species and plants while promoting water reuse and nutrient recovery.
